Hanna & Matt’s 4/20 wedding at Basilica Hudson bent all the tradition rules in the best ways. Matt, who hosts car obsessed podcast The Smoking Tire, customized his suit vest with the Safari 911 interior, which he wore under his suit jacket screenprinted with an image of Hanna and their cat. Hanna’s hair was its signature dimensional purple.
Guests arriving to the ceremony were greeted with buckets of chilled Coronitas to enjoy. Queen’s “Somebody To Love” kicked off the procession and the couple married under a floating chuppa, surrounded by candles. Rose gold chains draped from the four corners of the chuppa were a nod to the chain factory that the bride’s family owned (and where Hanna worked) growing up.
Following a cocktail hour, where guests found their seating assignment via miniature whoopee cushion, the reception kicked off. The industrial walls of the venue were brightened up with a large colorful balloon installation over the checkered dance floor and lush florals of varying heights ran down the center of each table, woven through geometric shapes. Each guest was assigned a seat, with a special gift/inside joke from the couple (including rolling papers; mini plastic chicken legs and more) at their setting.
The couple was paraded into the reception by Hudson Horn’s brass band, where they went into their first dance before the night rolled into a fun, raucous evening of delicious food, speeches and dancing.
